Cong failed to see end of charismatic leadership: Pranab memoir

Late President and Congress stalwart Pranab Mukherjee blamed Congress’s failure to acknowledge the end of “charismatic leadership” being the reason behind its failure in 2014 elections even as he said that it had pained him to see the sorry fate of his erstwhile party. In his memoirs “The Presidential Years, 2012-2017”, released on Tuesday after his recent death, Mukerjee said he was relieved at the decisive mandate in 2014 elections but “disappointed at my one-time party’s performance”.
