Farmers protest: The importance of mahapanchayats in western UP and Haryana

The overwhelming response to the Muzaffarnagar mahapanchayat perhaps set up a new template for show of strength by the farmers, who have been braving government's strategy to tire them out. It has been a week since then and a number of mahapanchayats have been conducted by farmer leaders in places like Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Meerut, Bijnor, Baghpat, Dausa, and Jind.
