After 17 days, all 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel were rescued. Arnold Dix, an international tunnel expert, played a major role in the rescue operation. Dix arrived on November 20 and inspected the site, ruling out collapse risks. He never promised a quick or easy rescue, but assured the workers would be home by Christmas.
