The ban on animal sacrifice ritual at the old Shyama Mai temple in Darbhanga has been withdrawn by the temple management committee, honoring the sentiments of various sections. The committee clarified that it neither supports nor opposes the animal sacrifice ritual, allowing every faithful to practice their respective rituals. However, the committee will no longer arrange for sacrificial rituals or charge any fee for it. They have also announced plans to erect a wall around the sacrificial area and encourage symbolic sacrifice rituals to prevent cruelty towards animals.
